Food Storage and Production
Food Storage
Water Storage
Pharmaceuticals Storage
Since normal supply of food and water will likely be severely hampered in the wake of a large-scale national disaster, residents of The Resort at Forest Haven will be encouraged to maintain multiple years’ supply of essential resources. Each family residence at The Resort at Forest Haven should make a concerted effort to ensure their property is properly equipped for prosperity not only current times of economic and social stability, but also for times when the connectedness of society may have broken down.
Food supplies in stores across the country will begin to dwindle within days if trucks and trains are not making their regular deliveries. So, to ensure that your family and friends have an ample supply of food for an extended period of time, the following food storage and food production practices are highly recommended for each resort resident.
First, each property will store a one-year supply of food, pharmaceuticals, and household supplies for 100 adults. Whether in freeze-dried or ready-to-eat meals or in an assorted collection of bins, cans, bags, and bottles, a minimum one-year supply for 100 will be stocked. Also, each family will maintain 100 egg-laying chickens on their property providing a source of eggs, meat, and fertilizer. Next, each property will possess an outdoor kitchen area which will include a wood/gas stove and the capability to handle cooking without electricity. In addition, each property will construct a fully-operational greenhouse that will be able to provide greens, herbs, and other food to supplement the family’s diet. Lastly, each property will contain multiple areas of clean water storage… Not only for drinking, but also for cooking, bathing, cleaning, sanitizing, irrigating, and other myriad uses. In this way, each property within the resort will function as a self-sustaining unit within the self-sustaining resort community as a whole.
