Trip Planning

Route Strategy

In the event that a national disaster or emergency happened so quickly that resort residents were unable to bug out to the resort ahead of time, it would be necessary for them to travel to the resort after the fact.  However, if societal order had collapsed by the time of or during their departure, then traveling to the resort would likely be a very precarious venture.  It is for this reason that The Resort at Forest Haven will have multiple contingency plans and strategies that will enable resort owners to arrive with their families and friends quickly and safely.  There will be coordinated convoy strategies along with equipment recommendations provided to families for items/resources to prepare in advance.  In addition, there will be refueling depots along the way in strategic locations that will enable caravanning convoys to refuel and re-stock in safety and privacy.  In addition, there will be a runway at The Resort at Forest Haven which will allow those individuals who wish to arrive via aircraft to do so.

A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter.

Every person should have their escape route planned. I think everyone has an apocalypse fantasy, what would I do in the event of the end of the world, and we just basically – me and Nick – said what would we do, where would we head?

— Simon Pegg

In the long term, it is desirable that the human race, faced with the prospect of extinction on Earth, should prepare an escape route for itself…

Most travel disasters turn into something else: a story of survival, a story of bravery, of heroism, sometimes villainy. You just don’t know when it starts where it’s going to go because they are unexpected events.

— Mitchell Zuckoff

The only cure for grief is action.

— GH Lewis

A plan without a backup plan and without a backup plan of the backup plan is not a plan at all.

— G. Michael Hopf

Thank you, hard taco shells, for surviving the long journey from factory, to supermarket, to my plate and then breaking the moment I put something inside you. Thank you.

We know we cannot underestimate the importance of emergency planning in our region, nor can we assume we’ll have ample warning time. If an earthquake or terrorist attack hits, we won’t necessarily have advance alerts or opportunities to double- and triple-check our plans.

— Ellen Tauscher

…It is important to be prepared for the unthinkable. Supplies and a plan will significantly reduce panic and chaos in the event of an emergency.

— Mike Crapo

Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

— Mike Tyson

Part of your diversification strategy should be to have a farm or ranch somewhere far off the beaten track but which you can get to reasonably quickly and easily.  Think of it as an insurance policy… Even in America and Europe there could be moments of riot and rebellion when law and order temporarily completely breaks down.

— Barton Biggs

All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.
